Soul Magic: Rule Ten: Navigating the Waters – Part Three

This video continues understanding how the “astral” or “emotional waters” can “drown” our thought-forms and hinder our spiritual evolution. This video focuses both on various kinds of fears and on what is calls depression and “hilarity” (which is what mania used to be known as).

Practical Steps to Bring in the Light During This Time of Spiritual Crisis

During World War II, a series of letters were written attempting to clarify how to help the Forces of Light win over the Forces of Materialism (or Evil). That dark time in humanity’s history could have seen the extinguishing of spiritual values like compassion, love, wisdom, harmlessness, inclusivity, joy a free environment where spiritual values could grow and more. Had we lost the fight during World War II materialistic values such as hatred, fear, decadence, lies, corruption and a view that the goal of life was only about accumulating riches, power, and exploiting people for labor and sex to satisfy only the needs of a few (essentially making serfs or slaves out of human beings), would have replaced spiritual ones. Sadly, even though during World War II, the Forces of Materialism were overcome, they were not defeated. They only retreated and during the past seventy years they have regrouped, plotted their next battle, and now that battle has been unleashed upon us.

But we are not alone in this battle. The Forces of Light outnumber the Forces of Materialism, which is why they have launched their surprise attack on us and are now moving rapidly to overcome the Forces of  Light before they can put up a fight. As before they must not win and to help us we can take some tips from the letters about how to fight the forces of Materialism from the book Externalization of the Hierarchy once more. (Note: The summary below is from pp. 203 – 229 that you can read yourself if you want the exact words. The book is online for free at www.LucisTrust.org).

The Three Most Important Things to Attend To.

For starters we are told that there are three main things we need to attend to to increase the likelihood of both divine intervention to aid humanity so that the Forces of Light win. These are:

1. Divine intervention may happen with constant use of Great Invocation.

2. Need clear lines of demarcation between Forces of Light and Materialism.

3. Need clear thinking, wise speech, and skill in action.

The Great Invocation was put forth during World War II as a spiritual invocation or demand that the Forces of Light win this battle. Over the decades in our more politically correct time, some people have argued with the words used here. For example, during the 1940’s everyone, everywhere, was referred to in the male pronoun. Therefore some object to the use of the word “men” and have replaced it with words that are more gender inclusive. Others do not like other phrases that have caused the Great Invocation to be changed. Whether the original or alternate versions are used the most essential things are the demands to have light, love, power and realized spiritual beings working for the well-being of humanity take control of our Earth so it can become a more loving, compassionate, and wise place to live in.

As for a clear demarcation between the Forces of Light and the Forces of Materialism, Externalization of the Hierarchy makes these distinctions absolutely clear throughout the book. Some general distinctions were already made at the start of this post on “Practical Steps to Bring in the Light.” In our modern times the demarcation between the agenda of each side and who is on each side needs to be made very clear as once again the Forces of Materialism are using propaganda and many other tools that they used in World War II to deceive people. (Note: At some point a separate post may be released on this topic drawing from material in Externalization of the Hierarchy).

As for point three, the need for clear thinking, wise speech, and skill in action is crucial at this time. Clear thinking refers back to knowing the distinction between the Forces of Light and the Forces of Materialism. Wise speech is something every probationary disciple and disciple is working on and it includes knowing how to talk in such a way others are open to hearing what you have to say and you say it in such a way their consciousness is brought into greater spiritual realization. (Note: A video on Rule Seven for Probationary Disciples about wise speech can be found at this link. https://youtu.be/V-KpqTk48As ). Skill in action also means knowing how to act so that victory is assured. Many spiritual sources exist teaching about skill in action, including the Bhagavad-Gita, which is one of the most ancient texts on how to fight difficult battles in a spiritual way.

Going back to Externalization of the Hierarchy, We are given additional instructions on what to do that are again being summarized from pp. 203 – 229. They are as follows:

Ways to Aid the Light

1. Find people in every country aligned with the new world order and men and women of goodwill

2. Present a positive vision of future possibilities to the masses

3. Remain free of hatred and revenge and keep the emphasis on the one life and one humanity.

4. Use joy as a motivator more than sacrifice. Focus on the beauty of what can be in the coming world once the battle is over.

5. Focus on principles of:

· Sharing

· Cooperation

· Responsibility

· Focus on forgiveness

· Help masses see they have been lied to and are victims of deception

· Work towards a peace settlement

· Avoid focusing on a Utopia for the future. Rather keep the focus on what must be done practically now to make it a better world.

· Teach about Right Human Relations making sure that individually you do what you can to make things right with family, friends, co-workers etc first.

Regarding the tips above, they were meant not only to be implemented during World War II, but after it. In many places throughout Externalization of the Hierarchy we are told to create “mailing lists” of those who are aligned with the Forces of Light. These people were not necessarily part of esoteric groups. And they may not have been part of any spiritual or religious organization. But their mutual recognition of the Forces of Materialism and their values for creating a better world were aligned. Today, building such a list is also essential so that we are strengthened by our mutual recognition of one another.

As for remaining positive and creating a positive vision, it is essential that we understand the changes that our happening in our world (especially in the way of technology and AI). Creating a vision of how these can be used in a positive way so that they represent the values of the Forces of Light and not the selfish desires of the Forces of Materialism is therefore essential. Whatever can be done through the medium of words and images to do this would be most helpful. In presenting this positive vision people will also be able to lift out of their fear and hate into a joyful recognition of a beautiful tomorrow, and not one where only a few dominate and seek to be dictators over the many.

Regarding some of the other points, it is essential to “hate the sin but not the sinner” to use a classic Christian phrase. Again the Bhagavad-Gita (and I recommend Yogananda’s version, God Talks to Arjuna and the best), has a great deal to say about this giving specific instructions about how to do so beyond simply the injunction that it be done. Part of lifting out of hate will be helping the masses (and even perhaps people we know and love) see how they have been lied to and are victims of deception. This is no easy task and one of the best resources along these lines in our modern tiems are the books , YouTube videos and other resources by Steven Hassan. Hassan was once in the Moonies cult, found his way out of it, and has become one of the leading experts in the world on the methods cult leaders use to get people into cults, and more importantly the methods we need to use to very delicately lead people out of cults. For those of you who are Bailey students Esoteric Psychology, Vol. II also talks about the psycho-spiritual problem of Delirium. A video on this problem titled Delirium: Fanatical Obsession With One’s View of Spirituality can be found on the Soul to Spirit YouTube channel or at  this link. https://youtu.be/_kSTZARN1UM). The video gives a basic overview of delirium that both Probationers and Disciples can fall into. Another good resource is Meditation Mount at www.MeditationMount.org that has good information on Right Human Relations.

In summary, there are many things each and every one of us can do to get to work. In this post only a few things have been mentioned. More posts will come in the future that share even more insights from Externalization of the Hierarchy. This is a critical time and we are all called upon to do our part. Please feel free to comment on this post to share your insights as well.

Picking a Side – Spiritual Tools to Help in Today’s Crisis

One of the things that might surprise people who are spiritual inclined is the emphasis in the Bailey material about the need to pick a side when confronted with what they call the “Forces of Light” or the “Forces of Evil” or “Forces of Materialism.” After all, spiritually we are One, we are meant to be dispassionate and therefore many spiritual people advocate that the loving thing is to remain neutral. But according to the Bhagavad-Gita and the Bailey material, that view is very misguided.

Though the Bailey material recognizes our essential Divinity and Oneness since the Divine is Imminent in us all in the unmanifest world, we live in a manifest world that has a purpose and a plan. Our Planetary Logos is a living Being that we literally “live, move and have our Being within it.” Our Planetary Logos has a destiny that as spiritual Beings we are meant to discover and align with. Those who are aligned with this plan we are told need to fight to ensure we will have a world where more wisdom, love, compassion, inclusivity, harmlessness, freedom to grow spiritually and joy will dominate. Those who oppose the plan fight for a world where selfishness, fear, hatred, a sense of individual or racial superiority reigns and the masses are made into ignorant slaves of their lords and masters who rule over them. These contrasts have been shown to us in modern times as seen in the Lord of the Rings books and the movies Star Trek, Star Wars, and even Harry Potter. And in the Bailey books these contrasts are also made clear especially in the book Externalization of the Hierarchy written as a series of letters given out mainly during World War II. In that book about that very critical time it is made very clear — we need to pick a side.

During World War II humanity was at a crossroads as the Forces of Evil or Forces of Materialism were about to take over the world. If these forces won, spiritual values globally would then be replaced by hatred, fear, decadence, lies, corruption and a view that the goal of life was only about accumulating riches, power, and exploiting people for labor and sex to satisfy only the needs of a few (essentially making serfs or slaves out of human beings). The few who ruled over the masses saw themselves as a superior race, who had every right to slaughter others who were deemed inferior to them. And in fact, millions of people were being slaughtered at that time (men, women and children) because they were thought to be little more than animals. Back then, as well as now, taking a side was deemed absolutely essential for anyone who truly cared about spiritual values surviving on our planet as well as for our fellow human beings.

To highlight this fact I will draw only a few quotes from the book Externalization of the Hierarchy.* Though there are many areas in this book that emphasize the need to pick a side, one particular section stands out found between pages 212—220 of the book. In an urgent plea along these lines a series of questions exist that we are encouraged to reflect upon and answer to help highlight the necessity of picking a side. These questions are listed below.

1. “Do you believe that the Hierarchy of Light, under the leadership of Christ, is on the side of cruelty, aggression and the slaughter of the defenseless?

2. Do you believe that the world can be saved by a refusal to think and by the shirking of individual responsibility, thus ignoring a situation which does exist?

3. Do you feel that there are no issues and principles which are worth fighting for and dying for, if need be?

4. Do you stand with the Forces of Light or with the Forces of Materialism?

5. What are you doing to aid the side which claims your allegiance, loyalty and idealism?

6. Are you governed by a sense of individual futility—that weapon which the Forces of Materialism are using now so potently to stun possible opponents into helplessness?”

Externalization of the Hierarchy, pp. 217—218.

Today we live in a time where as before during World War II, we are being asked to “wake up to materialism and greed” (Externalization of the Hierarchy, p. 221). The first step then is to clearly know which side we are on in this fight. Picking a side may cause a feeling of despair, much as Arjuna felt when Krishna began speaking to him. The characters of Arjuna and Krishna come from one of the most ancient texts in human history known as the Bhagavad-Gita, that outlines this very dilemma of having to pick a side in the battle of life. The Bhagavad-Gita opens as a war known as the Kurukshetra is about to start. Before it begins Krishna (Christ-na) takes Arjuna who is one of the Pandu brothers (also known as the Pandavas) aside to discuss with him the necessity of standing up to fight the Kurus (or Kauravas).

Circumstances led up to this battle after a series of events caused the Pandavas, who are princes, to be stripped of their kingdom by their step-brothers the Kauravas. Through treachery, lying, attempted murder and worse, the moral and spiritual Pandavas were boxed into a corner by the Kauravas (or Kurus) who were about to become totally victorious allowing evil to reign throughout the world. To prevent this the Pandavas had to fight those on the opposing side who were made up of their family members, mentors, and others they loved. In crisis about fighting more friends than enemies in the battle, Arjuna begs Krishna (essentially the Christ), to allow him to run off to a secluded ashram to meditate, or to retreat from battle and become a pacifist.

The Bhagavad-Gita, like the teachings in the book Externalization of the Hierarchy, argue against this. Both books have a lot to say about what we need to do as spiritual Beings in critical times like these to enter the battle and win! The Bhagavad-Gita especially is the quintessential text for teaching us what we must do. But one thing is clear, even though like Arjuna we may want to run into a pacifist stance or head off to a spiritual center and meditate, when the stakes are this high, with the very freedom of humanity at stake, the only real answer as Krishna and the Hierarchy in the Bailey books advocates is pick your side!

Prayer – Spiritual Tools to Help in Today’s Crisis Series

Prayer is a very useful tool if one is praying in the right way. The spiritual guru Paramahansa Yogananda gives excellent guidelines of how to pray in his lesson Communing With God Through Prayer. He emphasizes how when we pray our minds should be completely absorbed in the prayer communing with God as if we are not separate from God. Prayer, he states, should not be mechanical. We have to mean it when we pray and prayer must be done with great intensity combined with complete love and devotion. Prayer cannot be emotional or intellectual, he goes on to say, and is best done when our minds are still and we feel the presence of the Divine.

In the Bailey teachings prayer is useful, but in the book Externalization of the Hierarchy it is emphasized in numerous places that prayer alone is ineffective if it is not followed by action on our part. Between pages 230—240 what might seem like a long rant exists on this very point indicating that too many people pray wanting the Hierarchy and Avatars to rescue them without wanting to  do their part. For example we find this quote, “This new world will not come as an answer to prayer or by the passive wishful thinking and expectation of the peace-loving idealist and mystical visionary. They point the way and indicate the needed objective. It will come when the mystic and the man of vision awakens to the need of the hour and comes down from the world of dreams, of theories, and of words into the hard arena of daily and public life. He must be willing to fight for that which he desires and knows to be good and true and right, and must stand firm against those who seek to distort the vision and to arrest its appearance, arming for battle so that final disarmament may be possible” Externalization of the Hierarchy p. 243

Combining the thoughts of Yogananda and the quotes from the Bailey material we might say that prayer is only effective if we experience ourselves as “at-one” with others and in that sense of at-one-ment we are praying to be infused with spiritual qualities so that we can enhance our ability to make a difference by working with our Planetary Logos (our conscious planet) to be a better receptacle to do our part. That helps the Planetary Logos, spiritual Hierarchy* and Avatars to have helpers so that they can be more effective.

When we pray as helpless children only wanting our Planetary Logos, the spiritual Hierarchy* and Avatars to rescue us, we are really acting more from the consciousness of Groups 3, 4, and 5 which are prone to magical and mythological thinking. They want superheroes to come and save the day as they sit there helpless and passive. They recognize God Transcendent (out there) but fail to also experience God Imminent (in here). Those in Group 6 (especially those who are materialists without spiritual aspiration), tend to remove God altogether and make themselves into Gods instead. They have reached the heights of selfishness and arrogance. In their deluded ways of thinking they want others to worship or pray to them because they cannot appreciate how far they are from true recognition of the Divine.

As we reach Groups 7, 8 and 9 (as Probationers, Disciples and Initiates) our way of approaching prayer shifts. We discover God Imminent and in time learn to combine that realization with an awareness of God Transcendent becoming essentially non-dual dualists. Knowing we are at-one with the Divine it may seem odd to pray because prayer feels like we are praying to ourselves. This is a distortion of non-dual teachings because we are only asserting one aspect of Divinity, the imminent. (Ironically, this kind of “non-dualism” is actually dualism since it embraces the imminent unmanifest side of Divinity and negates the transcendent manifest side setting up a this not that exclusionary paradigm). The more one reaches Group 9 the more God Imminent and God Transcendent are both realized and valued (the true non-duality as non-dual dualism embracing both). Now prayer is more an attempt to spiritualize ourselves inwardly in communion with and service to the Divine (which in this case is at first our Planetary Logos, or our conscious planet that we factually “live, move and have our being” within). Once we reach this state of awareness, prayer is truly powerful.

In conclusion, use prayer. Absorb yourself into it with devotion and love. Then ask for the changes in the world you want to see combined with an open mind and heart that is capable of receiving the changes you need to make, to become not only more Divine, but to help create a better world.

Soul Magic: Rule Ten: Navigating the Waters – Part Two

This video on Rule Ten continues to go through the “waters” focusing on the “astral waters” , or “emotional waters”, that we must learn to understand and navigate so that our thought-forms do not “drown” and we do not get set back in our spiritual evolution.

Soul Magic: Rule Ten, Navigating the Waters – Part One

This video on Rule Ten continues to go through the “waters” focusing on the “physical and vital waters” that we must learn to understand and navigate so that our thought-forms do not “drown” and we do not get set back in our spiritual evolution due to our vital and physical bodies becoming clogged, debilitated and distorted.

Soul Magic: Rule Ten -The Form Building Technique, Part Two

This video continues to go through what Rule Ten shares about additional elements to be used in creating the form (thought-form and/or the form representing the new level of evolution) that have not yet been presented in the previous nine rules on Soul Magic. The points in this video are: 1) Working With the “Outer Builders.” 2) The Waters of Living Substance. 3) Maintaining the Role of the Director. 4) Visualization, Meditation, Skill in Action. 5) The Inner Builders. 6) The Order of Creative Work. 7). The Result.

Soul Magic: Rule Ten – The Form Building Technique, Part One

This video starts off by introducing Rule Ten and then it proceeds to go through some additional elements to creating the form (thought-form and/or the form representing the new level of evolution) that have not yet been presented in the previous nine rules on Soul Magic. For starters these are: 1) Identification with the Absolute. 2) Awareness of the Divine Mind Blueprints. 3) The Role of Purpose and Desire. 4) Using the Three Laws of Synthetic Limitation; Vibratory Interplay; and Active Precipitation.

Soul Magic: Rule 6 – Rapid Review

Soul Magic: Rule Six. This rapid review discusses in brief how the third eye opens, what it is, and the three functions of the eye. The video also emphasizes the importance of controlling the eye so that we do not simply move into the astral plane and get overly caught up in altered state phenomena.
