Chela on the Thread: Psychic Powers II – Wisdom vs. Wilber

This post continues to elaborate on how the Ageless Wisdom model sees psychic powers evolving up the levels. In addition it elaborates a little bit more on some of the view of Integral along these lines. Again, this conversation is showing up here because it relates to the Chela on the Thread stage, which has as part of its tasks learning to distinguish between “higher and lower” psychic powers.

In the previous post, Chela on the Thread, Psychic Powers, I, I spoke more at length about the various levels in the Ageless Wisdom model and how they relate to the various psychic powers. In this post, I no longer introduce you to the levels. Instead, I give a brief overview of the five senses and how they evolve up the levels according to the Ageless Wisdom teachings. I also speak more at length about how the Integral model talks about “higher and lower” psychic powers,, by helping us understand the difference between magical thinking and real psychic phenomena. Accepted Discipleship: Service & the Master – Wisdom vs. Wilber

This post looks at the last two major factors involved in Alice Bailey’s stage of Accepted Discipleship (which is primarily the equivalent of Integral’s Turquoise and Indigo levels). As we dive in further we examine service and the very controversial task of contacting the “Master.” The post looks at some of the glamours and distortions related to the notion of contact, and what the Integral and Transpersonal movements have to say about such a thing, especially in light of what Wilber calls the “pre/trans fallacy.”

According to the Alice Bailey teachings one of the things that happens when we get towards the end of Accepted Discipleship is what she calls “contact with the Master.” She goes on to say that this contact does not happen unless an individual has demonstrated factually that he/she is of effective service in the world. As for Integral, though it does not have effective service in the world as a requirement in their stages of spiritual development, the notion of service can be inferred beginning to some extent with their Green level and becoming more “effective” by their Turquoise and Indigo levels. As for contact with a “Master,” that is a whole other thing in the Integral world, leading us into what Ken Wilber calls his “pre/trans” fallacy.

Accepted Discipleship: Mystic/Occultist – Wisdom vs. Wilber

Moving on with our exploration of Stage Three: Accepted Discipleship from the Ageless Wisdom teachings, this post examines how we are told to blend the mystic with the occultist (heart and head), and explores how this might relate to certain things taught in the Integral approach by Ken Wilber.

The phrases mystic and occultist are not found in our modern day popular vocabulary much. If they are mentioned, they are often relegated to some sort of weird or distorted way of being, and in the case of the word occultist, this word may even be associated with something demonic. These constitute major distortions in understanding. Before we can begin any kind of comparison, and how we are supposed to blend the two, we need to better comprehend what we mean by these terms.

Levels – Indigo and Group 9/10

The final post doing a brief comparison of the Alice Bailey/Wisdom levels with those of Integral/Wilber.

1/4/2020 UPDATE. According to the stats on my site, this is a popular and well visited post. However, this post is now very old. (Written four years ago). My thoughts have evolved substantially along these lines and the charts I have put together here have been updated many times. If you want to know where I really stand on all of this please click on the tab above that says Becoming Soul and get more familiar with what has evolved since then. I will say briefly that Integral’s Indigo now connects to Bailey’s Group 7  Her groups 8, 9, 10 go well beyond what Integral says about Indigo. Want to learn more about the correlations between Integral and Bailey’s model? Check out my book The Spiritual Human.

Have comments, questions, suggestions?  They will be posted so long as they are civil and expand the discussion.

Namaste,

Lisa

Levels – Turquoise and Group 8/9

Continuing to compare the Alice Bailey/Wisdom levels with those of Integral/Wilber. Here we are moving on to Group Nine in the Bailey model and the Turquoise level in Integral.

So far I have been comparing the Integral levels to a small part of the Bailey system starting with her 10 Groups of Human Development. As we go from Bailey’s Group 8 to Group 9 to Group 10, other aspects of psycho-spiritual development (known as the ACLRIF formula, the stages of Integration, and the stages of Initiation) need to be added in and accounted for, which in these brief posts I cannot address without creating greater confusion.  Sticking with the 10 Groups only then, I will attempt to make some correlations between Integral’s Turquoise and the Bailey Groups 8 and 9.

Levels – Green and Group 7

Continuing to compare the Alice Bailey/Wisdom levels with those of Integral/Wilber, we move on to Group Seven in the Bailey model and the Green level in Integral.

Group Seven and the Green levels are often associated with the Hippie type of person. The picture I choose here is meant to symbolize the idealism of this group as they shift into spiritual levels, along with the impracticality, naivete, and kind of fake and pretentious way they approach spiritual practice.

Levels – Orange and Group 6

As we continue to compare the Alice Bailey/Wisdom levels with those of Integral/Wilber, we move on to Group Six in the Bailey model and the Orange level in Integral.

Group Six and the Orange levels have been around for sometime, most notably as the ruling elite. (Note: I choose the picture for this post not only because you see Wall St. and symbols of the corporate media in the picture, but because it shows those above looking down on those below, giving the “elitist” feel).  The “elitists” can be found at the top of big corporations, banks, in the media, as rulers of countries, and also in the guise of the intelligentsia.

Levels – Amber/Orange and Group 5

In this post we compare the Alice Bailey/Wisdom levels with those of Integral/Wilber. Here we step into the zone Integral calls Expert, which is a combination of their Amber and Orange and relate it to what Bailey calls Group Five.

In the Bailey teachings Group Five is said to be the largest group in terms of humanity’s consciousness. (Group Four is the next largest and Group Three the third largest), Orange (which is related to Group Six in the Bailey teachings) represents the level the masses are moving into.

Levels – Amber and Group 4

This post moves on to compare the Alice Bailey/Wisdom levels and those of Integral/Wilber taking us into what Integral calls Amber and compares it with Bailey’s Group Four.

Said to be the largest segment of the world population by both the Alice Bailey teachings and those of the Integral movement, Amber is easily identifiable if you simply spend a short time surfing through hundreds of cable channels.  Understanding where most of humanity is at is very important if we are to help people move forward.
