Chela on the Thread: Science of Contact II – Wisdom vs. Wilber

This second post on the Science of Contact attempts to discuss how contact is actually achieved. In truth, we are always in contact, but with what?  Only as we can truly apply viveka (discernment) and meet the prerequisites that put us into resonance with that which we want to contact, can contact with higher levels of Divinity become possible. That is why in the Chela on the Thread stage so much emphasis is put on knowing how to navigate the subtle realms.

As I have been demonstrating when we get to Group 9 in the Ageless Wisdom teachings, which I have correlated to the Chela on the Thread stage, we must get a handle on the subtle realms from a place of increased objectivity and clarity. As we meditate and move into subtle realms caution is necessary. The Yoga Sutras of Pantanjali, comprised of four different books (which Alice Bailey read and commented on), talk about needing to establish a solid moral foundation (the yamas and niyamas) before moving into developing psychic powers, especially regarding Higher and Lower Psychic Powers. This moral foundation has some parallels to what has to be solidly in place by the Accepted Discipleship stage in the Ageless Wisdom teachings. We also have to have developed the capacity to truly think and intuit. In Integral, they refer to this as post-conventional thinking. But, there is more to contact than all of this, which is what this blog is attempting to explore.

Channeling II – Wisdom vs. Wilber

This post continues the discussion on channeling and how we need to get clear about what it is and is not as we move into the Chela on the Thread stage and explore the Science of Contact. In this post I look at what the Ageless Wisdom and Integral teachings have to say about discerning what level contact through channeling comes from.

In the Ageless Wisdom teachings there is a lot said about channeling, or what is called the “Problem of Guidance.” Though we may become skeptical of channeling at the level of Group 6/Orange, only as we reach Group 9/Turquoise and the stages of Accepted Discipleship and especially Chela on the Thread will we have any understanding at all about what channeling is and isn’t. Until that time we will either discount channeling, or become glamoured by it as we approach it in a distorted way. Understanding this, we will now look at the various levels, which the Ageless Wisdom teachings say guidance comes from. We will also look at what Integral has to say.

Channeling I – Wisdom vs. Wilber

This post is connected to the ones on the Chela on the Thread: Science of Contact. To understand this subject more clearly, it is important to take a look at the topic of channeling. This posts begins by looking at what channeling is and how the Ageless Wisdom teachings and Integral have approached it.

Welcome to the world of channeling, a word that implies tuning in somewhere to receive information of some kind. Not so long ago, channeling was a mysterious process. People knew information came from the “inner realms,” they just didn’t try to understand it very much. Even today those at the Group 4/Amber levels of consciousness who do not have very developed minds, give too much weight to channeled information without bothering to really question it. Be it Abraham (channeled by Esther Hicks), Seth (Jane Roberts), Ramtha, the Archangel Michael, the Pleiadians, and so forth, the focus is not so much on what the channeled material actually says, but that it comes from a seemingly “enlightened” and highly evolved source.

Chela in the Thread: Science of Contact I – Wisdom vs. Wilber

This post focuses on the Science of Contact related to the Chela on the Thread stage. Though contact is often glamorized as being in connection with some sort of Master, it is actually more about contacting what is known as the Intuitional or Buddhic plane, which is the plane of At-One-Ment.  Here a level of “synthetic understanding” is achieved allowing one to be a agent of loving and effective service in the world.

As a reminder we do not enter the stage of Chela on the Thread until a number of other tasks have been completed. These include: Dispelling GlamoursDeveloping Impersonality; a deep capacity to Cultivate Love; a blending of the Mystic and the Occult, or head and heart approaches to the Divine; Engaging in More Effective Service With a More Humble & Loving Heart; the ability to Discern Between Higher and Lower Psychic Powers; and the achievement of Group Resonance.  The summary of these previous posts related to the stages of Accepted Discipleship and Chela on the Thread are mentioned to help establish a deep sense of humility before we move into further discussion.

Chela on the Thread: Group Resonance II – Wisdom vs. Wilber

This post continues to focus on group resonance, which is the second task of the Chela on the Thread stage. In this post we at last take a look at the subject of Who Is the Master  I will also look briefly at how Integral, talks about this subject, and take a brief look at how the idea of Masters may be viewed from various levels of development.

Perhaps one of the most controversial parts of the Ageless Wisdom teaching, if not the most controversial, is the notion of Masters. Who is a Master? What does a Master look and act like in the Ageless Wisdom tradition? How is this different than what other spiritual traditions have to say?  Is it possible to be open to the notion of a Master without falling into glamour or delusion?  This post gives some brief insights with the intention of opening up debate and discussion along these lines.

Chela on the Thread: Group Resonance I – Wisdom vs. Wilber

This post moves into what I have summarized as the second task of the Chela on the Thread stage, which is one of the Six Stages of Discipleship. I have titled this task Group Resonance, which means from this point forward the concern for individual enlightenment is dropping away with group enlightenment, or group initiation, becoming the focus. As always I will attempt to correlate these stages with Integral, though that task is becoming more and more difficult.

We are One. That is a popular phrase for many to assert, but much more difficult to live. To use a Buddhist phrase, it means increasingly we need to become sensitive to “dependent arising.” To put it another way, ALL sentient beings arise together. No one goes it alone. The more we sink into this realization the more even the notion of individual enlightenment fades away, as we understand all the interconnected elements that lead to any one sentient being’s success.

Chela on the Thread: Psychic Powers III – Wisdom vs. Wilber

In this final post regarding the need to discern between higher and lower psychic powers at the stage of Chela on the Thread, the psychic powers are associated more directly with the various sub-planes and Groups as mentioned by the Ageless Wisdom and the different levels as mentioned by Integral.

The previous posts discussing the psychic powers have focused on how each of the five senses (associated with extended sensory perception, not “extra” sensory perception) evolved up the various spiritual levels. In this post, we will look at how the each of the psychic powers relate to each level. In addition, correlations with Integral will be made.

Chela on the Thread: Psychic Powers II – Wisdom vs. Wilber

This post continues to elaborate on how the Ageless Wisdom model sees psychic powers evolving up the levels. In addition it elaborates a little bit more on some of the view of Integral along these lines. Again, this conversation is showing up here because it relates to the Chela on the Thread stage, which has as part of its tasks learning to distinguish between “higher and lower” psychic powers.

In the previous post, Chela on the Thread, Psychic Powers, I, I spoke more at length about the various levels in the Ageless Wisdom model and how they relate to the various psychic powers. In this post, I no longer introduce you to the levels. Instead, I give a brief overview of the five senses and how they evolve up the levels according to the Ageless Wisdom teachings. I also speak more at length about how the Integral model talks about “higher and lower” psychic powers,, by helping us understand the difference between magical thinking and real psychic phenomena. Ken Wilber’s Thoughts – Magical Thinking or Real Psychic Powers

This post focuses more specifically on Ken Wilber’s exact thoughts on the nature of magical thinking versus real psychic powers so that they can be compared more precisely to what the Ageless Wisdom teachings say on the matter. This post is also connected to the Six Stages of Discipleship, especially the stage of Chela on the Thread, where we are told we need to become much more clear on the difference between lower and higher psychic powers.

In the Ageless Wisdom teachings we talk about higher and lower psychic powers. Higher psychic powers are considered Intuitional or Buddhic in nature. They include the use of the mind to analyze, investigate, and look carefully at what is going on.  The books From Instinct to Intuition and Esoteric Psychology, Vol II by Alice Bailey, both talk a lot about this. In the Integral teachings they call “higher” psychic powers “Psychic” (or adult psychic). “Lower” psychic powers are called “Magic” (connected to childish magical thinking).
