Moving on to Group Two we are reminded, as with Group One, that Bailey believes members of Group Two still exist on our planet (though she asserts the numbers are small and thought to be in the several thousands Esoteric Psychology, Vol. II, p. 204). As for what they are like? Bailey states that people in Group Two are aware of life and physical sensation, but are slow, inert, and inarticulate. They are also said to be bewildered by their environment and by events. She goes on to say that those in Group Two have no sense of time or purpose and for that reason they cannot really plan. They are said to have little skill at much of anything, but they can “dig and carry under direction.” Apparently, they eat, sleep, and procreate following the natural instincts of the animal body, have child-like beliefs regarding those in charge, and are motivated mainly by safety and gratification of their basic needs. All of this makes it difficult for them to respond to any “emotional and mental training and culture.” Finally, we are told that they remain confused by events around them usually because they are not able to put these events into any kind of meaningful context. (See Esoteric Psychology, Vol II, pp. 203 – 204 for direct references to the above).
Regarding this group Michael Robbins in his Egoic Lotus Webinar Commentaries 3 Series starting at around 22:00 goes on to suggest that those in Group Two have very primitive emotions, especially getting emotional when their instinctive lives are frustrated. Robbins says, “There may be memories and images, but no tendency to focus on them or cultivate them.” Robbins indicates that those in Group Two are probably amoral, but not in a sociopathic sense. That is because unlike sociopaths those in Group Two do not possess the forethought, cunning and planning abilities required. Rather, Group Two types live more in the moment acting in a compulsive and impulsive manner as they try to get their primarily physical and immediate gratification needs met.
As a reminder in the CHAPTER FIVE: Survival, Physical Coordination, Individuation it was emphasized that both Groups One and Two are associated with what Bailey calls Lemurian consciousness, which I summarized into five key focal points of development:
- Individualization.
- Coordination of the physical body.
- Focused on basic survival needs.
- Emotionally naive
- The instinctual use of mind.
- Indiscriminate sexual impulses.
In the last chapter we covered the first three on the list above. This chapter focuses on the final three.
